Yesterday was the annual Purses With Purpose auction to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Portland, Maine. As someone who knows first hand what an incredible place the Ronald McDonald House is for families of critically ill children, I was excited and eager to get involved. My mom and I went together to show our support and bid on some bags! The silent auction started at 11:30 and ran for an hour. The room was packed with several hundred women bidding and being outbid on a large array of designer and handmade handbags. There were designer handbags from Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Gucci, Cole Haan, Judith Leiber, and much more.
Following the silent auction a light lunch was served while the live auction took place. How exciting!
I had donated a Vintage 70's Gucci Handbag from Rice and Beans Vintage which was in the live auction and did very well, I was so nervous!
There were trips to Ireland, private chefs, room makeovers, handbags donated by celebrities and all the money went to the Ronald McDonald House. Everyone had a great time and I'm sure next year will be just as fun! Oh yes...and my mom won a little black vintage Gucci handbag and I won a vintage Judith Leiber!
